Jeep Wrangler Gets Restyled by Alpine Electronics
Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2015) - Alpine Electronics today unveiled the newest demo vehicle in their fleet, a 2014 Jeep Wrangler outfitted in a rugged California coast theme. The Wrangler debuted at the International CES, being held in Las Vegas from Jan. 6-9.
The Wrangler was made in conjunction with Starwood Motors, an authorized Alpine retailer from Dallas known for their customized Jeeps and trucks. Alpine and Starwood collaborated on the vehicle to give it the full Alpine Restyle treatment. The Alpine Restyle program redesigns the driver’s experience in the cockpit of trucks and SUVs. The centerpiece of the program is the X009 Restyle dash system, a multi-function product with audio, video and navigation features and a distinctive 9-inch touch screen, which is the largest full-system screen in the North American aftermarket. A total of eight vehicle-specific dash kits which integrate the oversize X009 into factory dashboards will be available in 2015.
“Alpine Restyle is more than just a product line, it's an attitude we are providing to truck and SUV owners. Starwood Motors brought the Alpine Restyle vision to life with this one-of-a-kind Wrangler which showcases the Alpine products in a fun and functional manner,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.
The Wrangler has a full Alpine system, centered on the X009-WRA 9-inch Restyle Dash System with 9-inch WVGA touch screen and audio, video and navigation feature set. It comes with an integrated dash kit and harness specifically Alpine engineered for the 2012-Up Jeep Wrangler. The sound system includes SPR-60C 6 ½-inch component speakers installed in the factory location of the lower front dash, and two more pairs of SPR-60Cs in a Starwood Custom JK sound bar. Bass emphasis is provided by two SWR-T12 12-inch thin subwoofers in a Starwood Custom JK subwoofer enclosure. The system is powered by a PDX-F4 4-channel amplifier under the driver’s seat and a PDX-M6 mono amplifier under the passenger’s seat. To aid with parking and tricky driving situations, an HCE-C252RD rear view camera system is installed in the rear, accompanied by an HCE-C212F front view camera system. The system is supported by a DC Power Engineering 240 amp high power alternator, Painless wiring for accessory and voltage distribution, and Stinger wire and installation products.
The Starwood Motors team let their imagination fly when designing the Wrangler. To achieve the Rugged California Coast theme, the Wrangler’s body, hardtop and fender were given Starwood’s signature Kevlar finish in Ferrari Nart Blue. A pair of El Diablo stripes in Porsche GT Silver was added to the hood to highlight the Alpine and Starwood logos. Other accessories include grab handles, headlight and tail light guards, the Mopar fuel door and the locking lug nuts.
Performance upgrades for the Wrangler include a 4 ½-inch Rubicon Express Extreme Duty long arm suspension system, Bilstein shocks and a Currie anti-rock sway bar. Exterior additions include Road Armor stealth bumpers for the front and rear (with tire carrier), Smittybilt steel fender flares, RSE Rock Slider power side armor and steps, a Lifted off-road heat reduction hood and an AEV JK roof rack. A complete lighting system is provided by Pro Comp Explorer LED lights (one 50-inch, three pairs of 2x2-inch and one 10-inch).
The Wrangler is ready for drives to the beach with 37-inch off-road tires mounted to 20-inch wheels. A custom surfboard/ wakeboard/wakesurf rack with a woodgrain finish gives a nod to the vintage “woodie” trucks popular with surfers in the ‘60s. For the ultimate comfort inside the Wrangler, the seats are outfitted in Bentley Speed black nappa leather with silver contrast stitching, inverted piping and a center stripe.
The Jeep Wrangler will be used at Alpine consumer and retailer events throughout 2015.
