Alpine Electronics Introduces New Rear View Camera System Specifically for Truck Applications
Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2015) - As part of its commitment to truck restyling products, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. today unveiled a new rear view camera system specifically for truck applications. The new HCE-TG130GM debuted at the 2015 International CES being held Jan. 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and joins an already robust lineup of drive assist products offered by the company.
“Alpine has offered a wide assortment of drive assist products for several years now,” said Steve Crawford, vice president and general manager, aftermarket business unit, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “The HCE-TG130GM is a new foray into this category, representing our first truck-specific camera system as a direct extension of our Alpine Restyle truck and SUV product initiative.”
The HCE-TG130GM is the first rear view camera system under the Alpine Restyle umbrella. The product is specifically designed for 2007-2013 GM trucks and consists of a rear view camera system with a tailgate handle surround bezel. It replaces the stock tailgate handle surround bezel, allowing for direct bolt-in installation into the compatible trucks. The camera system has four viewing modes: rear view for backing into tight parking spaces; ground view for seeing the area directly under the camera to help with connecting to a tow hitch; corner view for identifying approaching objects when backing out of a parking space; and panorama view for seeing the entire driveway when backing out. The camera fits in a housing located to the right of the tailgate handle, providing a clean, factory-look. LED lighting is integrated into the bezel, for better viewing in low-light situations. The tailgate lock can be coded for use with the truck’s ignition key.
Alpine Restyle is a category of products which are Alpine engineered for use in specific full size trucks and SUVs. Previously, the Alpine Restyle products consisted of in-dash 9-inch entertainment/navigation systems, but the category is expanding to include truck sound systems and drive assist products.
Alpine’s entire 2015 drive assist lineup consists of eight camera systems. The HCE-C252RD is the other new model for 2015. It has four viewing modes (rear, ground, corner and panorama) and is compatible with Alpine’s AV (audio/video) head units and AVN (audio/video/ navigation) systems
