Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2016) - Alpine Electronics announced it has added a new model with compatibility to Apple CarPlay. The i109-WRA 9-inch Restyle dash system with Apple CarPlay debuted at the 2016 International CES, taking place Jan. 6-9, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The new product joins Alpine's iLX-007 7-inch receiver with Apple CarPlay.

"We are excited to bring this feature to our 9-inch Restyle dash platform with the introduction of the i109-WRA for Jeep Wranglers."

Apple CarPlay
Apple CarPlay is the smarter, safer way to use your iPhone in the car. You can make and receive calls, access text messages, play music and get directions optimized for traffic conditions, all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road. Apple CarPlay features Siri voice control in addition to working with touch screen controls. Corresponding audio, driving directions and phone calls are played through the vehicle's speaker system. With Apple Maps, Apple CarPlay can predict where the user most likely wants to go by using destinations from recent e-mails, text messages, contacts and calendar entries. Users may also set destinations through a simple, conversational command to Siri (ex: "Take me to Joe's house"). Apple CarPlay uses a Lightning connector and is compatible with iPhone 5 and later, including iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and the latest version of iOS.

i109-WRA 9-Inch Restyle Dash System for Jeep Wrangler
The i109-WRA is Alpine's first model to offer Apple CarPlay compatibility in the 9-inch screen platform and is the largest system in the aftermarket to feature Apple CarPlay support. It brings Apple CarPlay and a 9-inch screen to the Jeep Wrangler, both of which are not available factory options. It is compatible with the Jeep Wrangler (2011-up) and has a WVGA screen with 800x400 display resolution. The i109-WRA comes with a dash bezel that replaces the entire OEM radio area to create a factory-like look and a vehicle specific wiring harness for plug and play installation. Dedicated hard keys provide direct access to phone, music and maps from the iPhone. To further appeal to the Jeep Wrangler driver, the i109-WRA has an opening screen and graphical user interface (GUI) that feature Wrangler-inspired styling.

iLX-007 7-inch Receiver
The iLX-007 in-dash receiver has a 7-inch capacitive touch screen and a flat-face design for a sleek look. Sources on the iLX-007 are AM, FM and Apple CarPlay, so drivers can concentrate on using the familiar iPhone platform optimized for in-vehicle use. The iLX-007 has a shallow, 3-inch chassis for greater installation flexibility into almost any vehicle with a standard 2-DIN dash opening.

Additional Features
Additional features on the i109-WRA and iLX-007 include three (2V) preouts, one aux input and Alpine's MediaXpander® technology for improved playback of compressed media. Both models have an input for a rear view camera system (camera system sold separately). The Alpine TuneIt® App is a free smartphone app that provides customized sound tuning for the i109-WRA, iLX-007 and other Alpine audio systems. The app lets users easily adjust a wide range of sound settings including time correction, parametric EQ, crossover points, preset EQ modes and more. The settings are made through the app and uploaded to the i109-WRA or iLX-007 for precise sound customization and immediate results.
