Alpine Electronics Introduces Truck-Specific Speaker System
Torrance, Calif. (Jan. 6, 2015) - Expanding its vast variety of aftermarket speakers, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. announced a new foray into the speaker category with the debut of a truck-specific, direct-fit speaker system. The SPT-21GM was revealed today at the 2015 International CES, taking place from Jan. 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The SPT-21GM GM truck speaker system consists of two pairs of speakers that are engineered to fit and sound great in 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. A pair of 2-way, 6 ½-inch component speakers is supplied for the front doors, and a pair of 6 ½-inch coaxial speakers are used for the rear. The speakers and tweeters fit into the truck’s factory locations and include mounting adapters to optimize their position and angle for the best possible sound reproduction. The SPT-21GM can be purchased as a speaker system or as part of the PSS-GM21.
The PSS-GM21 is a complete packaged sound system for 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. Included in the package are the SPT-21GM GM truck speaker system, an MRV-V500 5-channel amplifier and the new direct fit subwoofer. The direct fit subwoofer comes complete with a unique tuned enclosure made for 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. What makes the direct fit subwoofer unique is that it fits in the very limited and unusable space behind the seats in the GM 4-door trucks, thereby creating excellent bass response without taking up any usable space inside the vehicle. The design allows a thin, lightweight subwoofer to create good low-frequency extension. It achieves this by tuning the enclosure with a port that matches the 2007-2013 GM full size trucks. The port is coupled to the outside air though one of the cabin vents behind the seat.
The SPT-21GM and PSS-21GM are part of the Alpine Restyle product initiative. Alpine Restyle is a category of products which are engineered by Alpine for use in specific full size trucks and SUVs. Previously, the Alpine Restyle products consisted of in-dash 9-inch entertainment/navigation systems, but the category has now expanded to include truck sound systems and drive assist products. The SPT-21GM and PSS-21GM are the first two sound system products developed for the Alpine Restyle family of products.
The rest of the Alpine speaker lineup is available in stores now. The lineup totals sixteen speakers, two tweeter sets, and the SPT-21GM and PSS-21GM systems. From the dependable and powerful Type-R series to the budget friendly Type-E series, there is a speaker for every system layout and budget level.
Type-R Speakers
The Type-R speaker family consists of two component speakers and four coaxial speakers. They use a small neodymium magnet and a strong yet light HD polymer frame, making them compact and lightweight for streamlined installation. Type-R speakers are efficient and perform well with built-in head unit power or aftermarket outboard amplifiers. They use the patented High-Amplitude Multi-Roll (H.A.M.R.) surround technology adapted from Alpine’s popular Type-R subwoofers, for clean, high-impact bass performance. The ring tweeter with EQ ring and copper cap enhances both detail and output, while the swivel mount allows sound to be focused in the optimal direction.
Type-S Speakers
One component speaker and five coaxial speakers make up the Type-S lineup. Type-S speakers are available in a wide range of sizes, making them convenient as upgrades for factory speakers. They are highly efficient, so they can operate from the built-in power of a factory or aftermarket head unit. The Type-S speakers use an HD polymer frame for improved sound and installation, while the high-performance soft dome tweeter provides smooth, detailed sound.
Type-E Speakers
Type-E speakers deliver Alpine-quality sound at appealing prices. They offer a simple upgrade from factory speakers and come in three popular sizes that fit into many vehicles. They are constructed with a reinforced glass fiber frame on the back and come with installation holes for easy mounting in a variety of cars.
