The TUA-T550HD HD Radio™ Tuner from Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. enables consumers to easily add HD Radio technology as a source to their Alpine head unit. Eleven head units in Alpine’s 2010 line up are HD Radio Ready with the TUA-T550HD (see list below).

With HD Radio technology, listeners can get static-free, all-digital broadcasts from nearly 2,000 AM/FM radio stations nationwide without any subscription fees. Users also can enjoy HD Radio multicasting, which allow them to listen to HD2 and HD3 multicast channels above and beyond the main FM station. More than 1,100 HD Radio stations offer multicasting programming at no additional fee.

The TUA-T550HD also provides convenient iTunes® Tagging support for nine Alpine head units: INA-W900, iXA-W407, iXA-W404, iDA-X305S, iDA-X303, CDA-117, CDA-105, CDA-118M and iDA-X100M. When users hear a song they like on an HD Radio station, they can “Tag” the song directly from the head unit. Information about these Tagged songs is stored by the TUA-T550HD and transferred to the connected iPod® or iPhone®. The next time the iPod or iPhone is connected to a computer, iTunes automatically presents the songs in a new Tagged playlist so the user has the option to preview and buy the songs from the iTunes store.

The TUA-T550HD HD Radio Tuner is available now for $230 SRI at authorized Alpine dealers.
