TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 7, 2008 – An essential component to a killer sound system is the right choice of amplifier. Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of mobile media solutions, launched a newly redesigned V-Power™ amplifier line up and added a new PDX digital amplifier, offering car audio fans the ultimate flexibility to build a one-amp sound system any way they want.
New V-Power Series
The No. 1-selling family of amplifiers in the U.S., Alpine’s V-Power series delivers high watt-per-dollar value, so that consumers get mind-blowing sound performance without blowing their budget. The V-Power line up also offers many model choices, so designing the perfect system for any customer has never been easier. The new amplifiers create clean power with awesome clarity and detail at any volume level, all wrapped in a new aggressive cosmetic look. Rugged heat sinks, combined with a sophisticated digital processor with intelligent temperature monitoring, ensure non-stop output and stable, reliable performance. Variable crossover and Bass EQ functions provide flexible tuning possibilities.
The new MRP-M2000 2,000-watt (at CEA-2006 power ratings) V-Power mono amplifier shakes things up as Alpine’s most powerful amplifier to date. With the power to drive multiple subwoofers for ground-pounding bass, a very high SPL sound system can be a reality. To mark the MRP-M2000’s bold debut, Alpine is featuring a custom-built “Bass Shower†demonstration at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), where visitors can experience 16 Alpine Type-S 12-inch subwoofers running off a single MRP-M2000.
The V-Power series provides maximum system building flexibility and is ideal for upgrading factory equipment. High-level speaker inputs ensure easy connection to almost every head unit, and flush mount controls make for easy installation. The units come with end caps that cover and protect the wiring connections while creating a clean, finished appearance.
New Five-Channel PDX Digital Amplifier
The PDX digital amplifiers are the best-selling high-end line in the U.S. They are known for their sound quality and performance, which are packaged in a compact footprint that allows for installation in small spaces. The new PDX-5 five-channel amplifier (75W x 4 RMS / 300W x 1 RMS, at CEA-2006 power ratings) enables sound quality enthusiasts to build a complete multi-channel system powered by just one PDX amplifier. The PDX-5 shares the same small size as the other PDX models, making it perfect for compact installations. The PDX-5 boasts 90 percent efficiency at all power levels, putting less strain on the car’s electrical system while still providing plenty of precise, powerful sound. As a result of its power efficiency at all output levels, the PDX-5, like all the units in the PDX series, does not require an internal fan or bulky heat sinks and maintains a steady, low-temperature performance.
Alpine’s PDX amplifiers feature a super-efficient digital architecture and smart, stackable form factor that saves precious space in the vehicle. With an identical chassis size of 10.5 inches x 7.9 inches x 2.5 inches, all of Alpine’s PDX amplifiers are more than 60 percent smaller than previous conventional amplifiers. Their matching size allows them to be stacked and locked together to create one uniform chassis with front mount controls for easy access and installation. They combine an impressively small, uniform design with superb fidelity, maximum output power and efficiency. The results include better-than-analog sound reproduction and crystal-clear audio at all volume levels. Extraordinary sound clarity and superior speaker control can be had thanks to a high damping factor and intelligent power processing. The high-current, low-impedance quick connect speaker terminal makes installation quick and easy.
