Microphone Included
This unit comes with all that’s needed for Bluetooth convenience. The CDE-HD138BT comes with a tuned microphone that’s engineered to reduce noise interference and feedback. This allows optimal placement in your car, for the best possible sound quality.
Making, Taking Calls & Call Waiting
Now, make and take phone calls conveniently. You can set up your cell phone/head unit to automatically answer your calls. Use the supplied microphone to speak, and then listen through your car’s speakers. When a call comes in, your music mutes to carry the phone call. View caller information including caller ID, missed, dialed, and received calls right from the head unit display. If you receive a second call, you can have the first caller wait momentarily by pressing 2 for call waiting mode. Once both calls are finished, the music plays again. This truly makes the transition from your phone calls to music an enjoyable, convenient driving experience. You can even use the preset buttons on the CDE-HD138BT to quickly jump through your phone book, or set presets with your favorite callers to navigate to your contacts much faster.
Hands-Free Calling Sound Customization
To bring sound balance to your Hands-Free experience, you can adjust the CDE-HD138BT’s mic gain, phone output and ring tone volume. If that’s not enough, there are 5 sound quality settings to choose from to get the balance just right for you. This flexibility will make your phone calls a pleasurable experience.
Audio Streaming
Do you have a large music library on your phone? The CDE-HD138BT can stream A2DP and AVRCP music. Not only can it control and stream your music through Bluetooth, it can process your music using its built-in DSP Sound Expansion to ensure you get the best sound you deserve.
Text Message Alert*
Expecting an important text message? The CDE-HD138BT can give you a notification on the display with a blinking mail icon indicator for 30 seconds while receiving a text message. The mail icon indicator will remain on if there is an unread message on a connected mobile phone.

Steering Wheel Control
If your car has factory Bluetooth steering wheel controls, then it will also control your new CDE-HD138BT’s built-in Bluetooth. Or, control your head unit right from your factory installed steering wheel controls by adding a third party adapter. Use popular brand names such as Soundgate or PAC to add this feature.

Simple Plug-in with Front USB Port and Front Aux Input
With a dedicated USB input and USB cable, you can even connect USB memory devices like thumbdrives. Song lists on USB devices are displayed in alphabetical order, and allows eight levels of file / folder search capabilities. This unit will find music files while ignoring other file types on the USB device.
Note: MP3 device or cell phone can only be independently controlled through the head unit when using the USB connection, not with the AUX connection.

Alpine’s exclusive Media XPander Pro is engineered to bring out the musical details lost in compressed media, and it is adjustable per source to get the most out of your media.

Smart Reception Management: A Better Way to Listen to HD Radio
Traditional HD Radio equipped tuners will use an auto-switching method when listening to the main & multi-casting channels. It works really well on the main channels, however when listening to a sub-channel, you will be switched back to the main channel if the digital signal is temporarily lost. This interruption can be a frustrating experience to stay engaged on a particular multi-casting channel if the digital signal is weak. Alpine’s solution provides Smart Reception Control through the default setting “Digital MC”. The Digital MC setting uses a Hybrid method of auto-switching analog and digital on the main channel, and uses all-digital for sub-channels. Alpine’s solution keeps you on the channel you desire, resulting in a better overall HD Radio experience.
iTunes Tagging—Get New Songs on the Go
The CDE-HD138BT is enabled for iTunes Tagging and when you hear a song you like, simply press the on-screen [Tag] button that is displayed below the song information. This iTunes Tagging feature lets you Tag songs you hear on HD Radio stations and stores the song info on your iPod. The next time you connect your iPod to iTunes, you will be able to preview your tagged songs and purchase and download them from directly from iTunes.

Connect your iPod or iPhone using the USB cable that came with your iPod or iPhone and you've got access to all your music, right from your head unit. Adding the optional heavy-duty, automotive-grade Alpine KCU-445i USB iPod/iPhone cable is an even better option. This cable can stand up to the rigors of in-car use unlike the cable supplied with your iPod or iPhone used primarily for charging. With USB you get convenient control so you can scroll through all your Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Songs - and view all your song information right from the head unit display. iPod/iPhone Passenger Control
Friends managing music in your car earning the coveted passenger seat just got easier. The CDE-HD138BT has a “Passenger Control Mode” that gives the passenger control of the tunes directly from the iPod’s or iPhone’s menu. The driver still has play/pause, track up/down, and volume control right from the CDE-HD138BT’s faceplate. When the driver wants to take control again, a 1 second press of the volume knob switches the control from the iPod back to the CDE-HD138BT’s menu.

For especially big music libraries, Percentage Search function uses the preset buttons for quick jumps to specific parts of the list. Save yourself from scrolling through each song one by one, when you can just jump to a segment of your library with a touch of a button
